To the Communist and Workers’ Parties of Solidnet
Dear comrades,
By this letter the International Department of the CC of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation is bringing to your knowledge the position of the CPRF concerning the February 24 decision of the Russian Federation on conducting a special operation in Ukraine aimed at protecting the population of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, demilitarizing and denazifying the country which has become a source of constant aggression, nationalism and Russophobia.
For eight years, under constant shelling of the towns and villages by Ukrainian Neo-Fascists, civilians including children, women and elderly people have been dying — dying solely because they want to speak their native Russian, do not want to live according to Fascist laws and do not want to see Ukraine turn into a NATO outpost in the East.
As a result of the 2014 state coup carried out with the support of the USA and the European Union power in Ukraine was seized by right-wing reactionary forces saturated with the poison of Bandera Nazism and anti-Sovietism. Sweeping persecution began of dissent, with the banning of all the parties and movements that opposed militarization and Fascization of the country. The first target of persecution and bans was the Communist Party of Ukraine.
The burning alive of people at the Odessa Trade Union House was a culmination of frenzied Russophobia, a “symbol” of anti-people intentions of those who made a bid for power, came out for a severing of the historical ties with Russia and for the segregation of the Russian population.
The Minsk Agreements initiated by Russia in order to bring an end to hostilities in Donbass, could have provided a road map for achieving peace in the region, however, Ukraine’s Neo-Nazi government had never intended to comply with it. Egged on by the West, it committed to a military solution of the issue.
Adding drama to the situation was the fact that the Bandera authorities in Kiev were ever more actively seeking Ukraine’s admission to NATO. The country’s territory was becoming a bridgehead for deploying the arms of the USA and its allies. Militarization was proceeding apace.
The creation of military bases in Ukraine and the deployment of strike complexes in the border areas created fundamentally new opportunities for delivering a nuclear missile strike on Russia. Moreover, in violation of all the signed international treaties, Ukraine officially declared that it wanted to create nuclear weapons.
The situation on the border between Ukraine and the Donbass republics reached a flash point. The military units on the Ukrainian side intensified the shelling of the DPR and LPR territory forcing civilians to leave their homes. The number of casualties was growing. Egged on by the USA, the Ukrainian government was poised to invade Donbass.
An acute need arose to take measures to protect more than 800,000 Russian citizens there and prevent the genocide of the peaceful population of Donbass.
The situation called for emergency measures to liberate the country from the Bandera dictatorship, but these measures could not be implemented by the Ukrainian people because the country’s civilian population was simply unable to stand up to the forces of terror, which were armed to the teeth, and needed help.
The Communist Party of the Russian Federation repeatedly raised the issue of recognizing the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics which were developing in accordance with the principles of social justice, and warned about the potential consequences of ignoring the obvious facts.
The Party proceeded exclusively from the interests of the working people of the region considering it very important to implement the plans of demilitarizing Ukraine.
The need to demilitarize and denazify Ukraine in order to stop it becoming a hotbed of Nazi ideology should become the main concern of the world community in order to prevent the country from turning into a Nazi state, a bridgehead of the aggressive imperialist USA-NATO alliance spearheaded against Eurasian countries.
We call on all the progressive and political forces in Russia and the world to use the mechanisms of people diplomacy for the sake of the centuries-old friendship between Russians and Ukrainians.
